Sedona Landscape Paintings Inspired by the Red Rocks

Living near Sedona has given me years to experience its red rocks in every kind of light—from the first glow of morning to dramatic monsoon skies and brilliant Arizona sunsets. My Sedona landscape paintings aren’t intended to simply reproduce what I see. I paint what Sedona feels like to me: colorful, mysterious, sometimes playful, and always changing.

Over the years, my style has evolved from traditional watercolors and oils into vivid acrylic paintings filled with luminous color, patterned skies, hidden surprises, and a touch of imagination. Whether I’m painting a familiar red-rock formation or reimagining a desert scene, my goal is to capture the beauty and energy that make Sedona unlike anywhere else.

Cathedral Rock — A Continuing Source of Inspiration

Of all Sedona’s landmarks, Cathedral Rock continues to call me back. I’ve painted it many times over the years, from different viewpoints, in different moods, and through different stages of my artistic journey. Paintings such as Cathedral Moon, Creekside Cathedral, Pure Joy, and Sedona’s Cathedral Serenity each tell a different part of that story.

When Southwest Landscapes Begin to Glow

Fluorescent acrylics opened an entirely new chapter in my art. In normal light, these paintings are vibrant Southwest landscapes. Under black light, the original paintings can reveal a second personality as fluorescent colors, patterns, and details begin to glow.

That transformation has become an important part of my evolving style, combining the recognizable beauty of the Southwest with the vivid mystical landscapes that now define much of my work.
