Coastal Landscape Paintings

While many of my paintings are inspired by Sedona’s red rocks, several works explore the peaceful light and atmosphere of the coast. Paintings like “La Jolla,” “Always on Vacay,” “The Dunes of Naples,” and “Serenity at Sunset” capture glowing skies, luminous color, and the quiet rhythm of coastal landscape art. These vivid mystical landscapes blend radiant ocean light, colorful skies, and emotional connection into peaceful coastal wall art inspired by the beauty of the shoreline.

Coastal Landscape Paintings — Inspired Beyond the Southwest

Although Sedona and the Southwest have inspired much of my art, I’ve never believed an artist should be limited by geography. My Coastal Landscape Paintings grew from places and moments that caught my attention for entirely different reasons—the movement of water, brilliant skies, changing light, and that unmistakable feeling of being near the coast.

Whether I’m looking at red rocks or an ocean horizon, I’m drawn to many of the same things: light, color, atmosphere, and the opportunity to interpret a place rather than simply reproduce it.

From Sedona’s Red Rocks to the Water’s Edge

Paintings such as La Jolla, The Dunes of Naples, Serenity at Sunset, and Always on Vacay show another side of my work. The scenery may be different from Arizona, but my approach remains much the same.

I use color and imagination to capture what I remember most about a place. Sometimes that means exaggerating a sunset, emphasizing the movement of the sky or water, or allowing a scene to become more playful than reality.

A Different Landscape, the Same Artistic Journey

My coastal paintings aren’t a separate artistic identity. They’re another chapter of the same journey that has taken me from traditional watercolors and oils to fluorescent acrylics and my more imaginative Vivid Mystical Landscapes.

The subject may change, but what I’m searching for hasn’t: that moment when a landscape becomes more than scenery and creates an emotional connection.
