Price range: $69 through $5,400

After a five-year break from painting, Creekside Cathedral welcomed me back to the easel. Nearly a decade later, I’ve returned to the inspiring waters of Red Rock Crossing—not to recreate that moment, but to reimagine it through fluorescent acrylics, revealing sanctuary, awakening, and reflection.

The Story Behind Sedona’s Cathedral Serenity

Some places become destinations.

Others become lifelong companions.

For me, Cathedral Rock has always been both.

After stepping away from painting for five years, I returned to the easel in 2015 with an oil painting titled Creekside Cathedral. Looking back, it marked one of the most important turning points in my artistic journey. It wasn’t simply my return to painting—it was a return to myself.

Creekside Cathedral was also the first time I allowed the flowing waters of Oak Creek to be as important as Cathedral Rock itself. The gentle movement of the creek transformed the landscape into something more personal. A year later, that painting reached another unexpected milestone when Warner Bros. licensed it for the streaming series Snatchers. It reminded me that following your passion can lead to places you never imagined.

Today, with Sedona’s Cathedral Serenity, I’ve returned to the very place where my journey began.

This isn’t a recreation of Creekside Cathedral.

It’s a reimagining.

Years spent painting Sedona’s remarkable landscapes have changed how I see Cathedral Rock. Paintings such as Sacred Reflections and Red Rock Crossing: Cathedral Rock Reflections in Sedona each revealed something new, yet I found myself drawn back to the soothing sounds of Oak Creek and the peaceful sanctuary that first inspired me.

This time, the waterfall became the focal point of the composition.

Its cascading waters draw your eye into the painting, then gently lead you toward Cathedral Rock, rising beyond the trees. The journey through the painting is meant to mirror the experience of standing beside Oak Creek—listening to the rushing water, feeling the cool shade beneath the sycamores, and finding a quiet moment of reflection.

That feeling is what I set out to paint.

More than another Cathedral Rock painting.

More than another Sedona painting.

I wanted this Sedona landscape painting to be a sanctuary—a place where the beauty of Red Rock Crossing invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with nature.

Because this original is painted with my signature fluorescent acrylics, the experience lingers long after the sun goes down.

During the day, warm desert light dances across Cathedral Rock as Oak Creek sparkles beneath it. Under black light, however, the original undergoes its own awakening. Hidden layers of luminous fluorescent color emerge, revealing a completely different personality while preserving the serenity of the daytime scene. It’s one of the qualities that make my glowing Sedona paintings unlike anything I could accomplish with traditional oils alone.

If you look closely, you’ll also discover hidden hearts nestled within the distant hillside. They’re a quiet reminder that the places we love often leave their mark on us, even when we don’t immediately notice.

As I finished this painting, I realized something.

For years, I thought I had been painting Cathedral Rock.

The truth is, I never was.

I was painting the peace it brought me.

The sanctuary I found beside Oak Creek.

The awakening that came from returning to the easel after a five-year absence.

The reflections that only time and experience can reveal.

This is my fifteenth interpretation of Cathedral Rock.

Each painting has taught me something different.

Each return has revealed another layer of its beauty.

Every visit reminds me that no matter how often I paint this remarkable Sedona landmark, Cathedral Rock still has another story to tell.

Perhaps that’s why I keep returning.

Not to paint the mountain.

But to paint what the mountain awakens within me.

And somehow, I think the journey is only just beginning.

The Heart of It All

There are places that impress us with their beauty, and there are places that quietly change us. For me, Cathedral Rock at Red Rock Crossing has always been one of the latter.

When I stand beside Oak Creek, the sound of cascading water softens the distractions of everyday life. The towering red cliffs seem timeless, their reflections shimmer across the creek, and for a few moments, the world slows. That feeling has inspired many of my Sedona paintings, but with Sedona’s Cathedral Serenity, I wanted to capture more than a landscape—I wanted to capture a state of mind.

The waterfall became the heartbeat of this Cathedral Rock painting, inviting your eye into the scene before revealing one of Sedona’s most recognizable landmarks. Every element was carefully composed to create movement, balance, and a quiet sense of peace. The trees frame Cathedral Rock without overpowering it, while the flowing creek becomes a pathway leading you deeper into the painting.

Painted in fluorescent acrylics, the original offers two distinct experiences. By day, it’s a vibrant Sedona landscape painting, filled with rich desert colors and the warm glow of Arizona sunshine. By night, under black light, hidden layers of fluorescent color awaken, transforming the painting into an entirely new experience. It’s this day-to-night transformation that has become the signature of my glowing paintings.

If you explore the hillside carefully, you’ll discover hidden hearts tucked into the landscape—a tradition I’ve enjoyed incorporating into many of my paintings. Some collectors spot them right away, while others discover them months or even years later. I like to think they’re little reminders that the landscapes we love often leave lasting impressions on our hearts.

As an artist, I don’t believe we ever truly stop learning. Every visit to Cathedral Rock teaches me something new about light, color, composition, and myself. Perhaps that’s why I’ve returned to this remarkable Sedona landmark fifteen times. Each painting captures not only a different season or perspective but also a different chapter of my journey.

My hope is that Sedona’s Cathedral Serenity becomes more than a piece of artwork hanging on a wall. Whether you’re reminded of your own visit to Sedona, inspired to plan one, or simply find a few peaceful moments each time you look at it, I hope this painting offers the same sanctuary, reflection, and quiet awakening that inspired me to create it.

Day-to-Night Transformation

Most paintings tell a single story.

Sedona’s Cathedral Serenity tells two stories.

During the day, this original Cathedral Rock painting captures the warm glow of sunlight illuminating Cathedral Rock above the flowing waters of Oak Creek. Rich layers of fluorescent acrylics create exceptional depth, vibrant color, and the luminous quality that has become a hallmark of my Sedona artwork.

As evening falls, something remarkable occurs.

Under black light, the original experiences its own awakening.

Hidden layers of fluorescent color emerge, revealing glowing highlights, enhanced depth, and subtle details invisible in ordinary light. The transformation isn’t meant to overpower the daytime painting—it complements it, creating a second viewing experience that continues to surprise collectors and visitors alike.

It’s one reason I enjoy working with fluorescent acrylics. They allow me to create paintings that evolve with shifting light, much like Sedona itself.

If you’ve ever seen Cathedral Rock at sunrise, midday, sunset, and under a starlit sky, you know it never looks exactly the same twice. I wanted this painting to capture that same sense of continual discovery.

While only the original offers the full day-to-night transformation, my Limited Edition Hand-Embellished Giclées are individually enhanced by hand with fluorescent acrylics. Each edition is signed, numbered, and personally finished by me, capturing much of the same glowing energy while offering collectors an exceptional alternative at approximately one-third the cost of the original.

Whether displayed in natural light or under black light, my hope is that Sedona’s Cathedral Serenity continues to reveal something new each time you pause to enjoy it—just as Cathedral Rock has revealed something new to me throughout my artistic journey.

Collector’s Note

Every artist has a few paintings that quietly mark turning points in their careers.

For me, Creekside Cathedral was one of those paintings.

After a five-year break from painting, it welcomed me back to the easel and reminded me why I fell in love with creating art. It eventually found an unexpected audience when Warner Bros. licensed it for the streaming series Snatchers, but its greatest gift was something much more personal—it gave me the confidence that my artistic journey was just beginning.

Nearly a decade later, I found myself standing beside the same waters of Oak Creek.

The landscape was familiar.

I wasn’t.

Years of painting Sedona’s remarkable scenery, experimenting with fluorescent acrylics, and listening to collectors share their stories had changed the way I see both light and nature. I realized I wasn’t returning to recreate an earlier success. I was returning because Cathedral Rock still had something new to teach me.

That realization became Sedona’s Cathedral Serenity.

This is my fifteenth interpretation of Cathedral Rock, yet it feels less like a conclusion and more like another beginning. Each painting in the series has captured a distinct mood, season, or perspective. This one captures something deeper—a sense of gratitude for the journey itself.

If you choose to bring this painting into your home, I hope it becomes more than a beautiful piece of Sedona art.

Whether this painting one day earns a place among the works collectors return to again and again isn’t for me to decide. My hope is simply that it brings you the same peace, sanctuary, and quiet sense of awakening Cathedral Rock has given me for so many years.

I hope it becomes a place to pause.

A place to reflect.

A place to remember that even after we’ve walked the same path many times, there is always another sunrise to witness, another reflection to discover, and another quiet awakening waiting just around the bend.

Thank you for allowing me to share a small part of that journey with you.

  A Personal Reflection

Whenever I visit Oak Creek, I’m reminded why I’ve returned to Cathedral Rock so many times throughout my career. The sound of the water, the towering red cliffs, and the quiet beauty of Red Rock Crossing stayed with me long after I returned to my studio. Those memories form the foundation for paintings like Sedona’s Cathedral Serenity. At the time, I had no idea where that journey would lead. I certainly never imagined that one day it would be licensed by Warner Bros., or that I would return to Cathedral Rock again and again, finding something new each time.

After fifteen paintings, I finally understood why.

It was about the peace Cathedral Rock has quietly given me over the years

The sanctuary I carry home from every visit to Oak Creek. The reflections only time can reveal.

The awakening that comes when you return to a place that has quietly become part of your identity.

Every artist has a landscape that continues to call them home.

For me, Cathedral Rock has always been like that.

And somehow, I don’t think this journey is over.
