A Name Rooted in Sedona’s Spirit

“Arabella,” Sedona’s poetic middle name, captures the town’s vibrant energy and spiritual allure. According to local lore, a settler named the area after being captivated by the desert’s twilight glow—a tribute to the beauty and heart of Sedona itself.

Capturing Sedona’s Luminous Landscapes

Before I began using fluorescent acrylics, I created Arabella to capture the emotional brilliance of Sedona’s landscape using layered color and form. Each brushstroke in this luminous artwork moves with the rhythm of desert wind, while the vivid reds and glowing skies pulse with warmth and harmony. The painting embodies the spiritual light that defines my Sedona artwork—anchored in stillness yet alive with motion.

Mystical Clouds and the Unknown

One of my favorite details in this piece is above the red rocks—the patterned clouds that many viewers notice immediately. Some see familiar shapes; others see something unexpected, even mysterious—like UFOs floating in the Sedona sky. I leave that open to interpretation. The Southwest wall art I create often sparks curiosity and wonder, blending the real with the mystical.

A Bridge Between Earth and Sky

Arabella is part of my early Sedona paintings, in which I explored light and texture with bold acrylics rather than my later fluorescent technique. It links the grounded beauty of desert landscape painting with the limitless, celestial quality of the skies. The contrasts—vivid reds, sapphire blues, and golden tones—form an almost panoramic view that glows with emotional energy.

Collectors tell me that Arabella feels timeless, both rooted and transcendent. It shares the same visual lineage as my luminous pieces like Sacred Reflections, Sedona’s Hypnotic Earthrise, and Lover’s View. Each piece reveals the soul of Sedona in its own unique language of color, rhythm, and emotion.

Available as a giclée art print, luminous metal print, or canvas gallery wrap, Arabella continues to embody the heart of Sedona—where imagination and reality meet under one glowing sky. My art can also be experienced in person at the Village Gallery and Sedona Artist Market & Gallery.
