Fleetwood’s on Front Street – Charitable Art Auction for Lahaina’s Wildfire Victims

As an artist deeply committed to giving back to those in need, I wanted to share the creation of my painting, Fleetwood’s on Front Street. This piece holds special meaning, as it was inspired by the devastating wildfire that struck Lahaina, Hawaii, on August 8th, 2023. While it may not fall within my usual Southwest landscape art style, this painting captures a moment of reflection and hope, blending my signature artistic approach with a personal connection to a cause that is close to my heart.

The original artwork was created to support the people of Lahaina, especially the employees and residents of Fleetwood’s On Front St. This vibrant piece showcases my unique style, characterized by bold colors and patterns—a hallmark of my mystical art. As an artist from Sedona and the owner of Sedona Art Studios, I have always aimed to use my work to make a positive impact. This particular painting is intended to raise funds for those affected by the tragic fires in Lahaina.

I reached out to multiple local and national channels, including newspapers, TV and radio stations, art auction houses, and non-profit organizations, but despite my best efforts, I was unable to raise awareness in the way I had hoped. The giclée art prints of this piece are available on my website, sedonaartstudios.com, and I remain determined to make a difference, even though I encountered several obstacles along the way.

My daughter Noelle inspired me to create this piece as a tribute to the people of Lahaina. The auction, which I had initially hoped would raise funds for Fleetwood’s GoFundMe page, faced setbacks when new donations were temporarily disabled. As a result, I am now donating 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the original acrylic on canvas painting to the American Red Cross. The organization is providing critical support to those impacted by the fires, and I want to ensure that this donation reaches those who need it most.

I encountered several challenges while creating this non-Southwest painting. Typically, I draw from personal experiences and local references in Sedona, Arizona, but for this piece, I had to get creative. I used an online image of Fleetwood’s On Front St. and modified it by painting a sandy beach, as the restaurant is situated right across from the ocean. To truly capture the mood, I listened to Fleetwood Mac’s iconic album “Rumors” while I worked. Released in 1977, it became one of the best-selling albums of all time, selling over 40 million copies worldwide. This inspired me to incorporate the album’s name on one of the windows of the painting, while the other features the title of Fleetwood Mac’s hit song “Dreams.” The song’s reflective lyrics about love and loss resonated with my experience of trying to support the Lahaina community, making it the perfect choice.

I encourage you to view this piece as bright art as a tribute to the spirit of the people of Lahaina. The painting is also available as giclée art prints in a variety of formats, including canvas gallery wraps, giclée on canvas, and metal prints, all of which are perfect for adding a touch of unique, colorful artwork to any home. Whether you’re looking for Southwest wall art, panoramic wall art, or simply want to support a meaningful cause, this is a rare opportunity to own a piece that represents both artistic creativity and compassion for those in need.
