Electric Snoopy

The Story Behind “Electric Snoopy”

Some Sedona formations feel like old friends, and Electric Snoopy is one of them. If you’ve spent any time in Uptown Sedona, you’ve seen Snoopy Rock stretched out on his back — a natural echo of Charles Schulz’s beloved character. Lucy sits just above him on the real skyline, though she doesn’t appear in this version. One of the best vantage points is Broome & Orchard, where diners watch the sun melt behind the red rocks each night.

When I approached this painting, I wanted something playful, bold, and full of that “Sedona spark.” The bright, patterned sky was my way of giving the landscape a pulse — a sky that feels alive, glowing, and rhythmic. That signature sky pattern is now part of my visual language as an emerging artist, and Electric Snoopy leans into it with unapologetic joy.

The story behind the sale still makes me smile. A family walked in to the Village Gallery, and their child stopped cold in front of Electric Snoopy— wide-eyed, grinning, and completely mesmerized by the electric colors. They said, “We have to take this home.” Moments like that are why I paint.

A Luminous Interpretation of a Sedona Classic

Electric Snoopy is painted entirely with fluorescent acrylics, which transform this scene under UV or black light. In natural light, the sky shifts between magenta and electric blue, with each patterned brushstroke creating a sense of motion. Under black light, the entire sky practically levitates from the canvas.

The warm red rocks contrast vividly with the cool sky — painted with glowing oranges and reflective edges. The vegetation below features high-chroma greens and neon violets that flow through the landscape like energetic lines, echoing the lively spirit of Sedona’s desert at night.

And in the top right corner, the small, stylized electric moon glyph floats — a playful signature flourish that connects this painting to the whimsical energy of Sedona’s Red Rock Roadrunner (Morgan) from my Top Nine Collection.

This piece is partly landscape, partly character portrait, and partly night-time dream — a perfect example of my Sedona luminous landscapes combined with Southwest wall art, day-to-night painting techniques, and vibrant color.

The Making of a High-Chroma Panorama

As a 24×36 panoramic landscape, Electric Snoopy extends wide to showcase the iconic Sedona sprawl. The fluorescent pigments allow me to push the palette into a surreal realm that also feels deeply connected to the red rock glow at sunset.

The sky pattern — hundreds of electric brush shapes floating in gradients of blue over magenta — creates a sense of movement across the canvas. It’s a style that started with my painting ‘Inspired,’ the moment I truly discovered my artistic voice, and has since become a key part of my Vivid Mystical Landscapes.

Every glowing line in the vegetation, every shift in the rock’s warmth, and every stroke of the sky was intentionally placed. The final result is a vibrant, whimsical Sedona panorama that radiates joy and movement.
