Mesmerized — Suspended Between Sound and Silence

Price range: $49 through $5,400

Mesmerized is a fluorescent acrylic painting inspired by piano, moonlight, and the stillness between notes. Snow-capped mountains, reflective water, and a shifting night sky create Day-to-Night luminous artwork that transforms music into color, inviting calm, depth, and quiet emotional resonance.

Music That Shaped Mesmerized

Music has always guided my brush — not as background sound, but as atmosphere.

Joe Bongiorno’s piano compositions carry the same spacious quiet that lives inside this painting. If you’d like, press play and let the music settle into the room the way moonlight settles across water. It may help you feel the stillness that shaped Mesmerized.

The Story Behind the Painting

Mesmerized began years ago when I met Joe Bongiorno during a First Friday event at the Village Gallery. He had brought his keyboard and filled the space with music that felt spacious, contemplative, and quietly powerful. We became fast friends that evening — and fourteen years later, we still are.

When I came across the album cover for his release Mesmerized, shown here, I felt that familiar creative pull. The moonlit lakescape — framed by distant mountains and a glowing sky — carried the same emotional atmosphere that lives inside Joe’s piano compositions. It wasn’t dramatic. It was reverent. It breathed.

Joe Bongiorno’s Mesmerized album cover, whose moonlit lakescape inspired my painted interpretation.

I asked Joe if he would be comfortable with me creating my own painted interpretation. His response stayed with me: “I know your art, and I’d be honored to see what you come up with.”

Rather than repeat the image, I expanded it.

I strengthened the shoreline with texture and detail. I deepened the reflections so the water felt alive. I allowed the mountains to rise more boldly from the horizon. Using fluorescent acrylics and layered high-chroma pigments, I transformed the sky into subtle movement — shifts that evolve from daylight calm to black-light glow.

As an emerging Sedona artist, moments like this shape my evolution. The painting became more than inspiration from music — it became a dialogue between sound and light.

Hidden hearts rest within the reflection and sky — small reminders that meaning reveals itself slowly.

Collectors who connect with this piece often respond to Coyote’s Lunar Serenade and Cathedral Moon as well. Each explores moonlight differently — Coyote’s Lunar Serenade through desert silence, Cathedral Moon through Sedona’s iconic red rock formations, and this work through reflective water and music. Together, they form a quiet moonlight dialogue within my growing body of luminous Southwest artwork — united by stillness, glow, and reverence for the night.
